How to see a doctor in Sweden without BankID

Many visitors, tourists and international travellers in Sweden do not have a Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) or BankID. This service can be used without either.

You can submit your request online and communicate in English by chat, phone or video. A valid photo ID is required to verify your identity, and a passport is preferred.

Can I see a doctor in Sweden without BankID or a Swedish personal number?

Yes. The service is fully digital and designed for patients who do not have a Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) or BankID. You initiiate the contact via the web form.

Do I need identification?

Yes. You must be able to verify your identity with a valid photo ID. A passport is preferred.

How quickly can I get help?

Most consultations are reviewed the same day or the next business day during our opening hours. Monday–Friday 09:00–17:00 and Saturday 09:00-12:00.

How do I get a medical prescription in Sweden as a tourist?

When medically appropriate, prescriptions can be issued in accordance with Swedish regulations.

How to collect your prescrition:
Specific pharmacy transfer: Since you do not have a Swedish personal number, your digital prescription must be sent to a specific physical pharmacy (Apotek). You can select a conveniant pharmacy location of your choice during the consultation.
Pick up: You can collect your medication only at that specific pharmacy by presenting your passport.

Please note that some medications (such as controlled substances or narcotics) cannot be prescribed digitally.

Can all medical conditions be assessed online?

No. This service provides digital care for minor, non-emergency health concerns. We can help with conditions that are suitable for remote assessment, such as mild infections (including urinary tract and eye infections), skin rashes, allergies, general medical advice, and prescription renewals. Some symptoms and medical conditions require a physical examination or urgent medical attention and therefore cannot be managed through this service.

How do I pay?

Payment is made securely by credit or debit card. No Swedish bank account, BankID or Swish is required.

Can I use travel insurance?

Many travel insurance policies may reimburse medical expenses. Upon request, we will provide you with a medical report (underlag) and a detailed receipt to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider for details.
